The secret to having fun when gambling is to not spend more than you are willing to lose. If you can stick to this seemingly simple premise, you can have good fun with gambling.

If you are traveling in Southern Oregon and happen to be looking for a place to spend a little rest time (and money) or if you are looking for a fun destination in and of itself, Seven Feathers Hotel and Casino Resort is worth checking into. Located in the small community of Canyonville, Seven Feathers is owned and operated by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. It has 147 guest rooms, more than 1,000 gaming machines, over 20 tables, keno, and poker. Four restaurants can keep you well fed in between gambling runs. Cross the Cascade Mountains to the east and you might come across the Kla-Mo-Ya Casino in the small town of Chiloquin on Highway 97. It has 325 slots, six tables, and two restaurants. It is situated just north of the Klamath Falls area, and provides a good rest stop along the way north. Look at klamoya.com.

As I am now living on the Oregon Coast again, my closest casino for the occasional diversion is the Chinook Winds. Set near the coast in Lincoln City, it is in the middle of much to see and do. Once the sun goes down and you leave the beach, Chinook Winds offers 1,250 machines, 27 tables, keno, bingo, five restaurants, and 227 rooms. It also has a lounge that can be interesting. It draws some good big name entertainment throughout the year. One that I will see is Lee Ann Womack in February. check out chinookwoodscasino.com for more info.

Midway between the coast and the valley you can find the Spirit Mountain Casino. Located off the highway between Lincoln City and Salem, it offers 1,500 machines and 39 table games, seven restaurants, and 254 rooms. It also draws some reasonably good names for entertainment. spiritmountain.com is the site.

That covers the casinos I have been to. Also in Oregon you can find the Old Camp Casino in Burns, the Three Rivers in Florence, the Mill in Bend, the Wildhorse near Pendleton, and the Ka-Ne-Tah in Warm Springs. So wherever your travels take you in Oregon, you aren’t that far from some casino action.
