One surprise: Demling is high on Mr. Big News, even though he's a 12-1 long shot in the latest Preakness Stakes odds 2020. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. A last-minute Kentucky Derby entry, the son of Giant's Causeway made a move entering the far turn at Churchill Downs and finished third behind winner Authentic and runner-up Tiz the Law. That finish, which was a strong payday for those who had the 46-1 Derby longshot in their bets, was trainer Bret Calhoun's first career classic placing.

Mr. Big News will break from the No. 2 post position on Saturday at the Preakness 2020, with 30-1 long shot Excession to his left on the rail and 5-2 favorite Art Collector on his right in the No. 3 spot. The Louisiana-bred colt won the Oaklawn Stakes, also at 46-1 odds, on April 11 and has been progressing well throughout the 2020 racing season.

Another shocker: Demling is fading Authentic, even though he's the top favorite at 9-5. In fact, Demling says Authentic barely hits the board. War of Will (6-1 in 2019) and Cloud Computing (13-1 in 2017) are among the recent horses who haven't been favored but won the Preakness. Demling is looking for another surprise in 2020.

That's because he isn't sure Authentic will be able to replicate his sterling run at Churchill Downs. Although Authentic won the Haskell Stakes in July, he also settled for second at the Santa Anita Derby in June, falling short against Honor A.P. in that 1 1/8-mile race. Demling told SportsLine he 'loves the way Authentic never gives up,' but also noted, 'It's a lot to ask to come back after that performance in the Derby,' making him one of the 2020 Preakness Stakes favorites to avoid.
